Raising the bar towards best practice in financial reporting
UK property firm secures top spot
Deloitte, in conjunction with EPRA, are delighted to announce the results of our 2008/09 annual reports survey. Improving financial reporting for the benefit of shareholders and investors is close to the heart of both EPRA's Reporting and Accounting Committee and the Deloitte Real Estate team. Eighty annual reports from across Europe were included in the survey and reviewed for compliance with the EPRA Best Practices Recommendations (BPR), the purpose of which is to promote consistency and transparency in the financial reporting of real estate companies.
British property company Land Securities Group were named winner of the ‘Best Annual Report’ award at the annual European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) in Brussels. Finnish property investment company Sponda were presented with the award for ‘Most Improved Annual Report’. The winner of the ‘Best Annual Report Award’ was presented to the company with the highest overall score due to financial statements in compliance with EPRA BPR, whilst the ‘Best Improver’ to company with the most consistently improved financial statements in respect of EPRA BPR, over a two year period.
