Deloitte Institute Founder Awards 2012
Recognising emerging start-ups from London Business School
The first ever Deloitte Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Founder Awards - to recognise leading student emerging entrepreneurs - were held in November at London Business School. Seven recently graduated MBA students, selected by a panel including Private Markets Partner Paul Fletcher, LBS faculty and alumni entrepreneurs, presented their plans for new start-ups to an audience of Deloitte attendees and mentors, alumni, established entrepreneurs, CEOs and Founders with fledgling businesses.
The winning start-ups - covering social entrepreneurship, fashion, health and medicine, fitness and sport - will now enjoy a wide-ranging package of support, including a year-long place in the School’s nurturing ‘Incubator’ programme, a cash injection into their business, mentoring from Deloitte and LBS faculty and access to training, workshops and a community of alumni and entrepreneur mentors.
Underlining the Firm’s commitment to this important step in the innovation and entrepreneurship agenda, Paul Fletcher comments:
“New ventures play a critical role in unlocking solutions to many of the major challenges we face today and create a tide that supports UK job and wealth creation. We are ideally placed to support business owners as they grow, expand and pioneer new territory to achieve great dreams.”
Our Deloitte mentors will now start spending time with their chosen Founders, delivering one-on-one voluntary support and guidance. The Founders will also be connected with our existing Social Innovation Pioneers through workshops from early December, to exploit the opportunity of sharing views and insights into common challenges in starting a new business.
