The ‘Deloitte Social Innovation Pioneers’ aims to showcase socially innovative businesses from across the UK and provide them with a Deloitte package of support to help them scale and become investment-ready. This programme is run and managed by Deloitte LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales.
What do you mean by “Innovation”?
We have deliberately not defined the term ‘innovation’ as we do not want to place any restriction on entries. We are however interested in why what your doing is unique and different.
What do you mean by “Social Business”?
We define Social Business as organisations that are trading with an environmental or social purpose. They have a business plan and sustainable revenue streams, which enables them to compete in mainstream markets, often challenging the status quo, and maximise their social or environmental impact. Those who benefit from social businesses are their employees and direct customers as well as the wider community and a fair proportion of surpluses are reinvested into the business.
We are open to all types of organisation irrespective of legal structure. There is no legal structure that does not apply.
Do I have to be UK based?
Yes, we can only work with UK based entities.
Can I apply as an individual?
You must register as an individual representing an organisation or company. We can only accept applications from a member of the leadership team.
Can I nominate another company?
If you would like to nominate a company, please forward the website and application form to them but they must submit the application form themselves.
Can I apply if I am already on another programme and receiving support?
Yes, we do not discriminate against those who are already receiving support; however you need to ensure you have capacity to commit to the programme and be clear about what support you would like from Deloitte. We would also like to know what kind of support you are currently receiving.
How do I apply?
To apply to the programme, you must submit the online application form and send us two years of accounts by midnight 21st April 2013.
What is the selection criteria?
We are looking for businesses that have a proven social business concept, that have an innovative idea and that are ready to take it to the next level
In the application form we are looking for those businesses that can succinctly describe their business objectives and their success criteria
We are also looking at the robustness of the business model with over 50% of revenue generated through delivery of services or sales., potential for growth and strength of the leadership team
Clear articulation about the type of support and assistance required from Deloitte.
When will I know if I my application has been successful and I will be invited to interview?
We will notify you if you have been successful in the first round of applications w/c 24th April.
What happens if my application is successful?
If you are successful you will receive an invite to a 45 minute panel interview.
When will the panel interviews take place?
For applications received before the 7th of April interviews will still take place between 14th-16th of April. All other interviews will be scheduled for w/c 29th April.
When will the final list of Pioneers be announced?
The final list of Pioneers will be announced at the end of April
When will the support programme begin?
The first kick-off event for this exciting programme will take place in June
No, there is no fee for applying or becoming a Pioneer.
There will be no costs charged to businesses that successfully become one of the Pioneers, all outline benefits outlined will be free.
Will Deloitte offer investment or a cash prize?
Deloitte Pioneers does not offer a cash prize however a key aim of the programme is to prepare your business for financial investment and connect Pioneers with partner organisations and investors who may be positioned to provide some financial investment into your organisation.
When will the programme of support begin?
The final list of Pioneers will be announced at the end of April 2013 and first kick-off event will take place in June 2013

What will the requirements be on me if I am successful?
We are looking for people who will be active contributors and participators to our programme allowing you to gain the most from the activities and opportunities provided. We will also run 4 compulsory events throughout the year, therefore you to ensure that a representative from your organisation will need to attend these events. How long will I be a Pioneer for?
You will be a Pioneer for 12 months, after which time you will graduate to be alumni of the Pioneer programme.
Innovation is a big deal at Deloitte, it is a distinctive feature of our company, our services to clients and our people – and we want to be sure we recognise and support it. Working with our Pioneers will also help us develop our contacts, skills and knowledge of one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. This programme forms part of Deloitte’s wider responsible business agenda and is part of our continuing positioning around innovation and entrepreneurship.
What do Deloitte offer?
Deloitte offer a bread range of services across our four main service lines; Audit, Consulting, Corporate Finance and Tax. Our previous Pioneers have used our Deloitte digital, analytics, strategy consulting and real estate services as well as many more.
