Brisbane Innovation Scorecard 2013

Businesses innovate to grow revenue and market share

Brisbane Innovation Scorecard 2013
The 2013 Scorecard uncovered three main approaches to innovation used by business.
  • The Scorecard focuses on innovation for customer value and identifies three innovation business model themes adopted by innovative businesses in Brisbane: differentiation, customer simplicity and efficient and effective distribution
  • Results showed almost 40% – or 127 of the Brisbane businesses surveyed – reported investing in one or more significant innovations over the past three years, with firms that engaged in innovation across a broader range of their business operations achieving better overall performance
  • The overall level of innovation activity reported in 2013 aligns closely with recent national innovation surveys conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Notably, all innovation surveys reveal that large businesses are most likely to report innovation, and this year’s scorecard also finds this to be the case.
