Deloitte wins Australian Mobile awards for emergency response and car registration renewals

15 September 2011: Professional services firm Deloitte has won two prestigious 2011 Australian Mobile Awards for Bamboo®, a Smartphone platform which is revolutionising how organisations manage their business continuity and emergency response and EzyReg, an iPhone application for renewing vehicle registrations in South Australia.

The inaugural 2011 Australian Mobile Awards recognise the best of the Australian Mobile Industry. The awards celebrate outstanding achievement across all aspects of the Australian mobile landscape and reward the creativity and insight of both individuals and business at the cutting edge of the industry.

Bamboo was a 2011 Mobile Award Winner for best application on the BlackBerry platform and is a unique Smartphone platform which stores clients’ continuity management procedures and action plans in a user friendly and practical way on employees’ mobile devices such as a BlackBerry, iPhone and Android.

Frank Farrall, National Leader of Deloitte Australia’s Online practice said: “We recognised the challenges of business continuity during times of crisis and Bamboo was designed to create clarity during these times. This tool is about helping people access critical information in an emergency, wherever they are and whenever they need it. Using “push” technology, it ensures that people have the latest up to date information on their Smartphone.”

“Winning this award is terrific as we know that paper based plans have lots of limitations and are not always up to date. In times of crisis most people simply don’t have access to the files when they actually need them most. With Bamboo, people are able to access their individual action plans, regardless of location or mobile network connectivity.

“Bamboo is already a winner of the 2011 Australian Business Awards for product innovation and this latest award highlights Deloitte’s innovative approach to incident response and management,” said Mr Farrall.

SA EzyReg, which was a 2011 Mobile Award Winner in the Government Services category, was designed by Deloitte for the South Australian Government to make it simple for South Australians to register their vehicles anywhere and anytime. It is an innovative app which makes registrations easier and faster using mobile technology to deliver convenient services.

“We worked closely with the South Australian Government to produce this simple, easy and convenient iPhone app which will make people’s lives easier when registering their car, motorbike or any other light vehicle. Winning this award may be an incentive for other State Governments to follow,” added Mr Farrall.
