Tax highlights

9 September 2013

In this week's Tax highlights we feature:

  • Deloitte response to change in Federal Government: As the change in Government is likely to have a number of implications for business, particularly in relation to tax policy and economic prosperity, Deloitte has prepared an insights paper on the Coalition’s tax policies and proposals

  • Application for injunction dismissed: The Federal Court has dismissed a taxpayer’s application for an injunction to prevent the ATO from issuing amended assessments in an ATO audit of the taxpayer’s offshore banking unit (OBU). The taxpayer had argued that the ATO had changed its interpretation of how expenses could be allocated to its OBU

  • OECD report to G20 leaders: The Secretary-General of the OECD has presented a report which includes a proposal to move globally towards automatic exchange of information.

Plus we provide our synopsis of the latest legislative developments, cases, announcements, and ATO information and releases.
