Steven Walker

Steven is a Managing Director in the Legal Business Services practice at Deloitte Tax, LLP, focused on Legal Management Consulting and Legal Operations.

Before joining Deloitte, Steven was Global Head of Law Department Consulting at Elevate Services, a pioneering enterprise legal services company. He specializes in helping legal departments transform to the next generation of legal delivery and operations services. Steven has spearheaded multiple complex legal and contracting transformations, implementing and managing new services solutions and digital strategy, underpinned by cutting-edge technology, analytics and metrics, and lean process, combined with innovative people strategies and sourcing models, generating quantifiable business savings and quality improvements. His insights into legal service delivery are unique, developed through having been both a consumer and provider of legal services, accountable for the acquisition, structuring, management and delivery of complex legal and operations services in fast-paced corporate legal and law firm environments.

A 21-year attorney, Steven spent a decade at Hewlett-Packard in leadership positions covering the US and Asia Pacific, with several years as Vice President, South Pacific General Counsel. Before that, he practised law at Norton Rose and Baker McKenzie in London, Sydney and Germany. He is a Fellow of the College of Law Australia (Masters of Legal Business program), teaching legal services operations, strategy, technology and transformation. He contributed to the New South Wales Law Society’s Future of Law and Innovation in the Profession (FLIP) initiative and the International Bar Association’s “Future of Law” report. He was previously an advisory board member for the World Commerce and Contracting association (formerly IACCM).
