James joined the firm in 2017 and is a Director within Global Tax & Legal. In February 2021 he was appointed Global Delivery Centres Leader, Tax and Legal. In addition, he facilitates on three Deloitte University leadership courses, and plays a leading role in the Deloitte Military Talent and Transition Programme for which he hosts the quarterly DMTTP Insight Days. He has attended the Windsor Leadership Experienced Leaders programme. He is a volunteer mentor on the T&L 'Black Action Plan' Developing Careers Mentoring Programme. Before joining the firm, he completed a full career in the British Army, leaving as a Brigadier, which included operational roles in Northern Ireland and abroad in Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and the wider Gulf/Middle East region. This also included multinational work within NATO and Special Forces organisations. James was appointed MBE in 1991 and awarded the US Legion of Merit in 2018.
