Campus beginnings to leadership roles: Inspiring journeys at Deloitte

From first day nerves to leading the way: Two Deloitte journeys

At Deloitte, every journey is different—but each is shaped by a culture of learning, mentorship, and growth. In this blog, we share two inspiring perspectives: Ayushi, who recently began her career as a campus hire, and Sheenam, who joined Deloitte as a graduate and now leads various teams as a senior manager. Their stories illustrate how Deloitte guides professionals at various stages, from beginning campus to leadership roles.

Stepping in: Curiosity, courage, and the start of something new

— A campus hire’s story

Ayushi Dwivedi began her journey with Deloitte nearly two years ago as a campus hire. Since joining, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to personal and professional growth, with a clear aspiration to become a future leader within the organization. The following perspective offers an authentic glimpse into Ayushi’s experiences, learnings, and ambitions as she navigates the early stages of her career at Deloitte. Her story reflects not only her individual drive, but also the opportunities and supportive environment that Deloitte provides for its emerging talent.

Walking into Deloitte two years ago, as a campus hire, I was buzzing with excitement—and, honestly, a fair bit of nervousness. Like so many fresh graduates, I was stepping straight from college into the professional world, not quite sure what to expect. But I knew I was curious, ready to learn, and determined to make the most of this new chapter.

The in-person training at the Bengaluru office was a highlight right from the start. Each day felt like a new adventure. The sessions were engaging, practical, and—surprisingly—something I genuinely looked forward to. Training focused not only on technical skills, but also on becoming a better communicator, decision-maker, and teammate. Our mentor was approachable, knowledgeable, and always encouraging us to dig deeper and ask “why.”

What really stood out was how naturally leadership values were woven into everything we did—communication, collaboration, decision-making, and especially networking (which has since become one of my strengths!). We weren’t just being trained; we were being prepared to lead.

After training, I jumped into my first project. It was a crash course in business, people, and help delivering value. Suddenly, everything I’d learned in training made sense in real time.

To all the new joiners:
Come in with curiosity, keep asking questions, and don’t worry about having all the answers. Growth is the goal. Deloitte’s ecosystem of learning, mentorship, and opportunities is outstanding—if you lean in, you’ll be amazed at how much you grow, not just as a professional, but as a future leader.

One quote that’s stuck with me:
“Leadership is not about a title or designation. It’s about impact, influence, and inspiration.” – by a world-renowned leadership professional.

While my journey at Deloitte is just beginning, others have walked this path before me and grown into inspiring leaders. Sheenam’s story shows what’s possible as you progress within the organization.

For me, leadership is about how you show up, every single day.

Leveling up: From Campus hire to leader

— A leader’s perspective

Sheenam Munjral,a Senior manager at Deloitte , joined as a campus hire and has advanced to a leadership position over her 14-year career supporting a diverse group of clients.

Looking back, my campus to Deloitte journey started much like yours—full of anticipation and big dreams as a campus hire over 14 years ago. I was drawn to Deloitte for its reputation, global reach, and commitment to growth. But what truly made the difference, though, was the people and the culture. The opportunity to work with talented colleagues, learn from mentors, and being part of an organization that puts “people first” and believes in progressing together really resonated with me. I wanted to work somewhere with purpose—and Deloitte addresses on that every day.

My expectations were high: I wanted varied, challenging projects and a chance to learn across industries.. I began my career help auditing investment companies, then shifted to helping with auditing Fintech companies, and now I’m focused on projects involving blockchain, which is a new way of securely handling digital information and transactions. The tools and resources available to me —have helped me keep growing. From day one, the focus on feeling welcomed to the organization made me feel like I belonged.

What shaped my growth?

·       DU – The leadership center in India: Training and networking , were transformative experiences—first as a participant, then as a facilitator.

·       Mentorship: Having someone in my corner from day one made all the difference. In the past I supported campus hires as a buddy, and now I am a cluster lead who helps teams grow.

·       Leadership Development: Workshops, coaching, and real-world learning helped set me up to lead, not just manage.

A pivotal moment was moving from asset management to becoming the first cluster leader for Fintech. I launched training curriculums, a fintech newsletter, and mentored managers. That achievement led to building some of the strategic growth practices at USI. Leading large teams through change taught me agility and how to drive impact.

My leadership style has evolved from simply understanding my team to focusing on open communication, collaboration, and empowerment. As a cluster leader for a big group of professionals, I’m responsible for their growth and our results. Adaptability is key—the business world changes fast, and I’ve learned to embrace new technology, new ideas, and new ways of working.

My advice to new graduates:
Build relationships—network within your team and across the organization. Be proactive, show you care, and never stop learning. Embrace change, seek out mentors, and remember: your journey is what you make it.

Two journeys, One Deloitte

Whether you’re just starting out or already leading teams, Deloitte is a place where curiosity, courage, and collaboration are celebrated. Our stories may be at different stages, but the journey from campus hire to leader is filled with learning, growth, and real impact. Leadership isn’t a finish line—it’s a mindset, and it starts the moment you walk through Deloitte’s doors.

Embrace the journey, and you’ll be amazed at how far you can go.
