I stepped into Deloitte as a campus hire from a renowned institute, filled with anticipation and curiosity about what lay ahead. My journey began in June 2015 as a strategy consultant, and from day one, I felt the energy and promise that Deloitte offers to those eager to learn and grow. The mentorship, support, and collaborative spirit I’ve experienced have helped shape my career and outlook on life. Over the past decade, Deloitte has become more than just a workplace; it’s become a community.
Exploring roles and industries: A decade of discovery
At Deloitte, I’ve primarily worked in the Consumer sector, focusing on Retail and Telecom. My career has progressed from hands-on project support as an Infrastructure & Real Estate (I&RE) consultant to client engagement and solution design as a Senior Consultant, then to managing teams and some of the significant initiatives as a Manager. Now, as a Senior Manager, I help set strategic directions for complex programs, mentor future leaders, and collaborate with clients to help provide transformative outcomes in real estate and infrastructure.
Deloitte is committed to its culture that rewards a growth mindset and empowers us to stretch beyond our comfort zones. The collaborative environment, high-quality learning resources, and guidance through challenging times have helped me build resilience and confidence. I value how Deloitte recognizes professionals’ well-being,
Shneha Shrivastav
The heart of a leader
Reflecting on my journey, one of the most memorable moments has been managing a cross-functional team to help provide transformative insights for a retail client. Witnessing the impact of our work, not just in terms of business results but also in how it empowered business teams, was deeply rewarding. These moments of collective achievement, where we rise to meet a challenge together, are what make my journey at Deloitte so special.
I manage the team with a leadership approach that puts my team’s growth and well-being at the heart of everything I do. I recognize that each team member brings different strengths and ambitions, so I focus on personalized mentorship and holistic support. Open communication, celebrating wins, and creating safe spaces for honest feedback are some of the focus points of my leadership style. I strive to understand the lives of my team outside of work, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities. Regular check-ins, tailored development plans, and empowering team members to take on stretch assignments (assignments that allow them to learn new skills) have been especially effective in helping them flourish.
A vision of co-creating our future
Setting a vision is a collaborative process. I invite my team to co-create our direction and connect it to our broader purpose at the organization. My motto is simple: bring your whole self to work and embrace the challenges and joys of our profession. Be open to learning, seek out mentorship, and remember that your life outside work is just as important as your career. Cultivate a growth mindset, lean into new experiences, and don’t be afraid to ask for support. Above all, recognize the impact of what we do and take pride in furthering our collective purpose.
In the end, my journey at Deloitte continues to be one of growth, purpose, and possibility. I look forward to many more opportunities to lead, learn, and make a meaningful impact together with the amazing people who make Deloitte what it is.
