Beyond the numbers: My journey of growth and leadership at Deloitte

A seemingly temporary role that turned into a decade-long journey

Starting my career at Deloitte

I thought I'd found my path when I started my career at a world-renowned financial institution. However, after two years, I felt something was missing. I craved more than just analyzing numbers; I wanted to see the strategies I worked on make a difference. My search for a place where I could turn ideas into real impact led me to Deloitte US-India Offices in 2015.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of working alongside a collaborative and innovative team. We've shared countless moments of brilliance, fostering a sense of camaraderie and growth.

Owning my career

As part of Deloitte's Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) offering within the Strategy & Transactions practice, I help clients make informed M&A decisions. My experience spans various industries, but my current focus is on our Private Equity offering. Through this work, we help our clients make well-informed investment decisions that align with their long-term strategic goals. When I first joined Deloitte, the experience was as humbling as it was exciting. I was stepping into a fluid operating model where teams reshuffled with each engagement, and every project brought its own set of unknowns.

I still remember my first major assignment, where I was a part of a huge merger between two coatings companies. This plunged me into an industry I'd never worked in before. The two-week sprint to identify potential synergies left me swimming in troves of data and, at times, feeling out of my depth. What made all the difference were the colleagues who rallied around me and the functional specialists from across the firm who took the time to help me understand the landscape and worked alongside me to make sense of it all. That early glimpse of consulting life, watching so many talented "chefs in the kitchen" come together to create the perfect recipe, hooked me for good. I learned that it's okay not to have all the answers right away; what matters is trusting in the breadth of capabilities around us and our collective ability to find the best solution. That sense of support and collaborative energy keeps me motivated today.

I've benefited from outstanding mentorship and now have the privilege of guiding others, embodying our apprenticeship model that may nurture future leaders. Being involved in every stage of our journey, from recruiting to supporting growth, is deeply gratifying and makes my career more fulfilling.
