Human-AI interaction. How we communicate with, use, live with AI is going to redefine our social systems, the economy of work, and even the most intimate interactions with our loved ones.

Synthetic biology. Living systems are the most complex machinery in the universe. The ability to engineer it will give us superpowers to completely transform our environment: plastic-eating microorganisms, new cancer therapies, more nutritious food – and this is just the beginning!

Quantum won’t just make computation faster. It will redefine what’s computable. By modelling biology, materials, and entire economies, it will unlock solutions once thought impossible. In the end, quantum isn’t just speed, it’s a new language for nature

From your perspective, what is one thing that excites you most about where the world, or our work, is heading next? 

As our world becomes increasingly digitised, I’m fascinated by the fetishisation of low-tech existences. People are increasingly prioritising being offline and valuing person-to-person interaction. To me, it’s clear that the technologies of tomorrow will be those which subtly complement our lives, rather than take them over.
