SINGAPORE, 18 August 2025 – Deloitte Singapore (“Deloitte”) has raised S$700,000 for SPD in a massive fundraising relay run with the aim to cover 6,000km over 60 consecutive hours, with at least one Deloitte Singapore partner running at all times. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore and Patron of SPD, was present to witness the end of this endurance event during a ceremony to present the proceeds raised to SPD on 16 August 2025.
This “6000 for 60” initiative was held to commemorate Singapore’s 60th year of independence (“SG60”). All funds raised from 6000 for 60 will go towards two of SPD’s Early Intervention Centres, SPD@Jurong West and SPD@Kembangan, making essential therapy and learning support accessible to young children with developmental needs who require such support. SPD is Deloitte Singapore’s charity partner for the year 2025.
6000 for 60 was flagged off at 6.30 a.m. at Gardens by The Bay on 14 August 2025 and saw Deloitte professionals, clients, corporate and community partners running past iconic local landmarks including the Singapore Management University, East Coast Park, the Esplanade and Bishan Park.
Runners also visited Deloitte’s charity and community partners SPD and NorthLight School, as well as Sport Singapore and Netball Singapore – long-time collaborators whom Deloitte has been working with to advance the sports ecosystem in Singapore.
Deloitte professionals were encouraged to pledge donations based on the distances they ran, while clients, corporate partners and members of the public were also invited to lend their support.
The run culminated in Deloitte’s Family Day as over 2,000 Deloitte professionals and their family members gathered at Gardens by The Bay on the evening of 16 August. The event was graced by Guest of Honour, President Tharman. He presented medals to runners who covered the longest distances each, presided over a cheque presentation ceremony from Deloitte to SPD, and engaged with SPD’s beneficiaries who took part in the Family Day activities.
This fundraising initiative showcases how Deloitte is leading the way in responding to the government’s call to foster a culture of giving through the SG Gives matching grant, in support of the SG60 theme of “Building Our Singapore Together”.
“As a purpose-led organisation, Deloitte is committed to uplifting society and supporting Singapore’s national push to enhance the culture of giving. We are proud to work with SPD as our charity partner for the year, as we share a common vision to build a brighter, more inclusive future for the next generation,” said Eugene HO, Chair, Deloitte Singapore and Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte Southeast Asia.
“Our work to empower people with physical, sensory and developmental needs is made possible with the support of dedicated individuals and like-minded organisations such as Deloitte. We are deeply grateful for Deloitte’s generous contribution, and for rallying its people and partners through the 6000 for 60 fundraising initiative. By raising both funds and awareness of inclusion within your communities, you are helping to create brighter futures for young children with developmental needs,” said Abhimanyau PAL, Chief Executive Officer, SPD.
With 58 years of history in Singapore, Deloitte has had a longstanding commitment to Singapore’s community.
Since 2018, Deloitte has been recognised consecutively as a Champion of Good by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). This is the highest accolade for corporate giving and community engagement in Singapore.
As a large-scale relay run event, 6000 for 60 also reflects Deloitte’s continued dedication to supporting the global and local sports ecosystem. For example, Deloitte has sponsored and provided professional services expertise for major sporting events such as the Youth Olympic Games and Southeast Asian Games. Locally, Deloitte has been working with Netball Singapore to advance the sport as the title sponsor of the annual Pesta Sukan netball carnival as well as the Netball Super League. Deloitte has also provided meaningful career opportunities to more than 170 Team Singapore athletes through its Deloitte Ignite programme.
“Deloitte’s 6000 for 60 initiative is a landmark effort showcasing our dedication to the communities we serve and our support for sports in Singapore. It is also symbolic of our people-first culture, as we build teamwork and collaboration through large-scale community initiatives like this. I am heartened by how our Deloitte Singapore colleagues have answered the call to contribute their time, effort, and funds to unite in making a meaningful difference for the nation’s community,” added Eugene.
