Raj Kannan is the Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia Leader for Infrastructure & Real Estate. He is a chartered professional engineer and a specialist in public private partnerships schemes and Asset Recycling programs. He has led multibillion-dollar transactions in these areas.
Raj has advised governments, state owned enterprises and private corporations on deals in toll roads, power, railways, ports, urban transport, water treatment, public housing, industrial townships, smart cities and commercial developments in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and The Philippines. In recent years he has led transformation of SOEs, the establishment of infrastructure coordinating agencies, the development of smart cities and implementing value capture strategies. Prior to becoming an infrastructure consultant, Raj was the Executive Director of a public listed construction and property development conglomerate in Malaysia, which also owned and operated toll roads in Malaysia, China and the Philippines.
Raj holds a postgrad Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Oxford and an executive program certificate from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in “Infrastructure in a Market Economy”. He is an alumnus of the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and holds a degree in civil engineering from Victoria University, Melbourne.
