Fyra svenska detaljister finns med på listan över världens 250 största detaljhandelsbolag. IKEA är nu världens 25:e största detaljist med en tillväxt på 6,3 procent under räkenskapsåret 2021. Samtidigt klättrar H&M till plats 52 med en tillväxt på 6,4 procent. Det visar en ny studie från revisions- och konsultbolaget Deloitte.
Enligt rapporten Global Powers of Retailing 2023 såg detaljhandeln en global tillväxt på 8,5 procent under räkenskapsåret 2021 – den största sedan Deloittes första mätning 2012. Även lönsamheten bland bolagen var rekordhög på 4,4 procent – cirka en procentenhet högre än genomsnittet de senaste tio åren.
– Återöppnandet av butiker och återinförandet av sociala tillställningar bidrog till rekordstor tillväxt och lönsamhet för detaljhandeln under 2021, inte minst för lyxvarumärkena som såg den största lönsamheten på 20-27 procent. Nu står branschen återigen inför utmaningar i och med den stigande inflationen och minskade reallöner, även om den värsta oron bland svenska konsumenter börjar lägga sig, säger Joakim Torbjörn, partner på Deloitte.
Hög lönsamhet bland nordiska matvarujättar
Utöver IKEA och H&M finns svenska ICA Gruppen och Axel Johnson med på listan över de största detaljhandelsbolagen. ICA Gruppen tappar fyra placeringar sedan förra årets undersökning och är därmed det 84:e största bolaget med en tillväxt på 1,3 procent och lönsamhet på 3,6 procent. Axel Johnson tar nio placeringar och landar på plats 156 i år, med en tillväxt på 8 procent och en lönsamhet på 1,7 procent.
På listan återfinns flera av Nordens största aktörer på livsmedelsmarknaden. Exempelvis hamnar Norgegruppen på plats 105 och finska Kesko på plats 132.
– Våra nordiska matvarujättar har en högre lönsamhet än de europeiska och amerikanska jättarna. Bland de nordiska aktörerna ligger lönsamheten på 3,5-5 procent medan lönsamheten bland motsvarigheterna i övriga Europa och USA ligger på omkring 2 procent, säger Joakim Torbjörn.
Oron över inflationen minskar
Deloitte förutspår att den snabba ökningen av inflationen och uppgången i råvarupriser kommer att stabiliseras eller vända under 2023, dels till följd av färre störningar i leveranskedjan än föregående år. Men strama arbetsmarknader, Rysslands invasion av Ukraina och ekonomiska konsekvenser till följd av klimatförändringarna ser ut att fortsätta.
Enligt Deloittes Global State of the Consumer Tracker ökade oron över inflationen bland svenska konsumenter med 15 procent under 2022. Oron avtog dock under hösten och i januari kände sig svenska konsumenter 6 procent mer optimistiska kring sin ekonomi än vad de gjorde i september 2022.
– Den senaste datan visar att konsumenternas oro avtar trots att inflationen fortsätter att stiga. Svenskar känner sig mer optimistiska om sin framtid nu än under höstmånaderna, vilket bådar gott för detaljhandeln, säger Joakim Torbjörn.
