The Olympic challenge for Milano/Cortina 2026

Do you have an interest in sports and wellness? Are you excited about the opportunity of impacting the Olympic movement in Sweden? Would you like to get involved in a case competition where the winning team get to go to the Olympic games in Milano/Cortina 2026? Look no further!

Background

 

The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC) and the associated athletes, play a pivotal role in representing Sweden on the international Olympic stage. Established with the mission to promote and develop Swedish top elite sports, the SOC is dedicated and work close with the athletes, coaches and national teams long term to supporting Swedish athletes in their pursuit of Olympic success. Through its efforts, the SOC aims to foster excellence and sportsmanship, ensuring that Swedish top athletes are well-prepared to compete at the highest levels. By successfully participating in the Olympic Games, the athletes contribute significantly to Sweden's global brand perception, showcasing the nation's commitment to athletic ability and international cooperation. 

Simultaneously, the Swedish government is currently driving an initiative where the Swedish Institute has been tasked with coordinating efforts to communicate Sweden abroad. This initiative is a strategic response to the evolving global landscape, where nations are vying for attention and influence. The aim of this initiative is to increase awareness of Sweden and strengthen a fact-based and positive image of the country.  

Looking ahead to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, there is a unique opportunity for the SOC to collaborate with Swedish companies in the US to build and enhance Sweden's brand. By leveraging these partnerships, the SOC can not only promote Swedish sports but also create a positive image of Sweden on the international stage.  

In this context, The SOC stands at the intersection of sports and national identity, with the potential to significantly influence Sweden's global brand. Through strategic initiatives and collaborative efforts, the SOC can enhance the visibility of Swedish top athletes, foster a positive image of Sweden, and generate revenue to support the continued development of Swedish sports. 

The challenge

You are a consultant hired by the SOC, your task is to develop a strategy that enhances the Swedish brand while leveraging partnerships with Swedish companies for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games to increase income to the SOC. How would you approach this challenge?

The process and how to participate

  1. Document your solution to the challenge above on maximum one A4 page, font-size 10.
  2. Submit your case to secase@deloitte.se no later than 15 October 2025
  3. A Deloitte team will review all submissions and create a shortlist
  4. Deloitte and the SOC will select the finalist teams from the shortlist
  5. Finalist teams will be informed and invited to the final by the end of October 2025
  6. Case final will take place in December 10th 2025
  7. The winning team travel to the Olympic games in Milano, winter of 2026, to present their case and attend Olympic activities

Who can participate?

Cases must be submitted by

  1. a team of two or three students
  2. students currently enrolled at a Swedish university

Criteria

We want you to think big and bold, but with a realistic view and will therefor assess the submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Creativity: To what extent has the team been able to present a unique solution?
  • Ambition: To what extent has the team been ambitious in their proposed solution?
  • Feasibility: To what extent has the team been able to explain the expected impact in relation to investments needed, for their solution?
  • Compliance: To what extent has the team followed the commercial rights guidelines found at Varumärkesrättigheter - Sveriges Olympiska Kommitté

About the Deloitte Sweden and SOC partnership

 

Deloitte Sweden and the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC) have entered a collaboration as an extension of Deloitte joining The Olympic Partner (TOP) programme in 2022. As an official partner of the SOC, Deloitte will, among other things, provide expertise to support the SOC in strategic development projects. SOK will, in turn, contribute to Deloitte's internal program to promote health and well-being.
