With a new strategy for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) being developed, Romania is in intense competition with other states to attract FDI, whose vast benefits are well known: from direct and indirect economic effects, to the consolidation and diversification of the labor market, to the import of know-how and macro-financial advantages (exchange rate stability, reduction of the current account deficit of the state balance of payments).
In this context, the Deloitte Foundation has launched a complex and ambitious initiative aimed at strengthening Romania's positioning as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment, in which numerous Deloitte experts are voluntarily involved with the aim to capitalize on their knowledge, international network and experience working with foreign investors to increase the visibility of our country in the international investment landscape and to facilitate dialogue between the parties relevant stakeholders - public decision-makers, academia and business.
Research
As part of the initiative, the Deloitte Foundation collaborated with the University of Economic Studies to conduct a study that maps our country's potential as a destination for FDI, analyzing Romania from the perspective of macroeconomic indicators, the legislative and fiscal framework, the labor market and education, the sectors that offer development opportunities, the regional landscape and market trends. The study combines academic and practical perspectives that can help shape Romania's FDI strategy.
The Deloitte Foundation's initiative was supported by 15 business leaders of some of the largest companies in Romania developed with foreign capital, who contributed with testimonials about their success story; these are included in the study carried out by the University of Economic Studies.
