Peter MacDonald

Peter MacDonald is Audit and Assurance Partner and Financial Services Industry Audit and Assurance leader with Deloitte Romania. His audit experience covers major commercial bank groups, local branches of international banks and smaller local banks as well as stockbrokers, investment funds and lease financing. His advisory experience including audit and advisory services to a wide range of financial institutions both in South Africa and abroad in banking and treasury related projects covers implementing new accounting standards, investigating bank failures, designing risk-based capital models, and several other risk areas. He has also served as treasurer of a major listed mining house, risk manager of a niche bank, and financial director of a retail supermarket group. Peter held leadership positions within a Big4 in South Africa for seven years and was a partner at Deloitte in the CIS and partner at a Big4 in Ireland. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Financial Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa as well as a Higher Diploma in Banking Law from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Peter enjoys motorcycling, computer programming, reading and traveling.
