Tackling the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free products

The DDS Manager simplifies EUDR compliance by automating due diligence and providing transparent, efficient supply chain management to ensure your products are deforestation-free.

Navigating the European Deforestation Regulation for a greener future

The European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is an EU initiative aimed at preventing deforestation linked to products placed on its market. It promotes responsible sourcing and sustainability, requiring organisations to prove their supply chains do not contribute to forest loss.

A due diligence statement (DDS) must be submitted for each product in scope, confirming it is deforestation-free and complies with relevant local legislation. EUDR compliance is crucial to avoid fines, prevent supply disruptions, and meet increasing demands for ethical sourcing.

Four steps towards EUDR compliance

  • Determine whether products fall in scope of EUDR.
  • Identify and map relevant supply chains (countries) to gather insight in EUDR obligations.
  • Determine EUDR roles as trader or operator (importer/exporter).
  • Assess contracts in the light of EUDR information requirements and legality assessments.
  • Internal and external stakeholder identification, who are your suppliers.
  • Perform a data gap assessment: Identify data requirements.
  • Establish internal policies, guidelines and internal controls, including external reporting.
  • Set-up solicitation process, including verification of DD statements/information.
  • Integration and alignment with customs processes.
  • Set framework for risk assessment and mitigation, including 'legality' assessment (e.g. land use rights, environmental protection etc.).
  • Define the future state data model: Process the EUDR requirements to develop a data model.
  • Adjust processes, roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide training and internal awareness.
  • Deploy EUDR Data Solution comprising data pipelines and populated data models to facilitate due diligence statements.
  • Execution (outsourcing).
  • Evaluation of EUDR framework.
  • Continuous monitoring (EUDR DDS manager).
