Our firm provides a range of accounting, auditing, taxation and consultancy services. We have been present in Namibia since 1959, serving a wide variety of clients throughout Namibia. The local firm has four partners and two directors.
Melanie is Country Leader and Director of Risk Advisory Namibia. Melanie has fourteen years professional experience with Deloitte in Namibia and the Namibian De Beers Group of Companies.
She has acquired extensive experience in IT external audit, IT internal audit, internal audit, IT governance, enterprise risk management, business continuity, corporate governance, forensics and information security. Melanie has a post graduate degree with honours in Information Systems and has also obtained the following certifications: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
Johann is an audit partner in the Windhoek office with significant experience in a wide range of industries, including mining, financial services, retail and manufacturing. Johann is a Namibian citizen and is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia as well as the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
He completed his articles in Windhoek before an extended secondment to Deloitte London where, amongst others he was the lead on various multi-national companies. In addition to his external audit responsibilities Johann was also involved in various finance transformation projects, due diligence assignments and business proposals. Johann also handles our graduate recruitment.
Gerda is a Tax Director in the Windhoek office and she specialises in all forms of taxation and consults to a portfolio of corporate, listed and medium sized clients including mining, financial services, retail and manufacturing. Gerda has over 15 years Namibian tax experience of which 9 years were spent at Deloitte.
Gerda is a Namibian citizen and is a member of the Law Society of Namibia, the Tax Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the VAT Committee of the Banker’s Association of Namibia. She is also the editor of Deloitte’s Tax Newsletters and the Deloitte Quick Tax Guide. Gerda is in charge of our learning team, which ensures ongoing staff development regardless of career path.
Julius is a Partner in Audit in the Deloitte, Windhoek, office in Namibia. He has been with Deloitte for 10 years and has gained experience on a multitude of engagements in different industries. At the beginning of 2010, he was seconded to our Dubai office in the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East region.
His current largest audit engagements are Nedbank Namibia Limited (banking institution), Commercial Investment Corporation (consumer business and Imperial subsidiary), National Housing Enterprise (public entity) and Microsoft Namibia (technology/distributor).
Helen de Bruin is an audit partner in the Windhoek office, specialising particularly in the pension fund, service and retail industries. Helen joined Deloitte as a bursary student in 1992 and served her training period in the Windhoek office. She became a partner with Deloitte in January 2009.
Helen obtained a B Com and B Com Hons Accounting degree at Rand Afrikaans University, South Africa and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Helen is a member of ICAN and PAAB in Namibia and SAICA in South Africa. She is also responsible for the risk and quality management process in the Windhoek office.
