Karen Werger

Global Leader | Valuation & Modeling | Culture & People Leader | Financial Advisory

Karen is the Global Leader for Deloitte’s Valuation & Modeling practice. In this role, Karen serves as a core member of the Global Financial Advisory leadership team, the Global M&A leadership team and the Canadian Financial Advisory leadership team, helping to shape the strategic direction for Financial Advisory and the Valuation & Modeling practice worldwide. Previously, she led the Toronto Financial Advisory team for four years.

Karen is also the Culture and People Leader for Financial Advisory in Canada, overseeing our people and talent experience from new hires to retired partners to alumni. Karen is a member of the Culture and People Leader Committee, working with other business and regional leaders to drive our purpose agenda by committing to living our shared values. This includes broad responsibility for partner matters, leadership development, wellness, talent acquisitions and recruiting, diversity and inclusion, performance management and talent operations.

Karen is known for working closely with her clients to solve their biggest challenges, often in response to a crisis. She has extensive experience working with in-house legal counsel, external counsel, compliance personnel, and key business stakeholders on high profile matters that involve financial, reputational, and regulatory risk.

Karen brings particular passion to developing talent, as well as fostering high performing teams. She is an inclusive leader, and actively coaches and mentors next generation leaders at Deloitte and in other organizations. Throughout her career, she has championed diversity in the workplace—in 2006 Karen co-founded Deloitte’s Canadian Women’s Initiative Network. Since then, she has continued to develop numerous initiatives that accelerate the progress of female leadership, both within Deloitte and at her clients. In 2016, Karen was named one of the 100 most powerful women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN).

Karen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business and is a Chartered Business Valuator, a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Accountant.
