UAE Immigration Guidelines Amid Regional Disruptions

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) have announced that tourists and residents who are unable to depart the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to recent airspace closures and flight suspensions will not incur overstay fines.

Effective 28 February 2026, the exemption applies to the following individuals whose overstay results from airspace closures or flight suspensions:

  • Visitors holding visit or tourist visas
  • Individuals with exit permits
  • Residents who have cancelled their residence permits

Travellers are encouraged to monitor official government channels for further updates, as the situation evolves.

Deloitte’s view

These measures provide temporary relief and flexibility for travellers affected by airspace disruptions, helping mitigate financial penalties and certain logistical challenges associated with delayed departures.

Travellers should retain proof of their original bookings and any flight cancellation in case documentation is requested.

The situation remains highly fluid, further operational adjustments may be introduced. Deloitte is actively monitoring developments and will continue to provide timely updates.
