Qatar - GTA extends tax filing deadline to 30 June 2026

23 April 2026 – The General Tax Authority (GTA) in Qatar has announced an extension for filing tax returns for taxpayers with fiscal year ended 31 December 2025. The revised deadline is now 30 June 2026, instead of 30 April 2026.

Key highlights of the initiative

  • The extension applies to all taxpayers (including home businesses, public interest entities, charitable entities, associations, and private institutions) under the Income Tax Law No. (24) of 2018, including tax-exempt entities and businesses owned by Qatari or Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals.
  • Companies engaged in petroleum operations and petrochemical industries are excluded from this extension and must file by 30 April 2026.

Deloitte’s view

The GTA's decision to extend the tax return filing deadline is a constructive measure for those navigating complex tax compliance issues. This extension affords entities the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate tax positions and enhance reporting accuracy.

Despite the extended deadline, it remains crucial to initiate preparations early to mitigate any potential bottlenecks and comply with the Income Tax Law.
