Effective, 1 September 2026, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain mandated that dependents applying for a Family Visa/Residence Permit in Bahrain must have valid health insurance.
This health insurance policy needs to be issued by a licensed insurance provider in Bahrain and should cover a period of no less than two years.
While LMRA have not released an official announcement, this requirement has been applicable on the recent applications and verified through direct communication with the LMRA.
Deloitte’s view
This new mandate introduces an additional requirement for clients seeking family residency in Bahrain, potentially impacting their planning and processing timelines. Businesses and individuals should prepare to incorporate this insurance prerequisite into their application strategies to ensure compliance.
Deloitte recommends clients consult with their insurance providers and adjust their application processes accordingly.
We remain committed to keeping you informed on further developments as the LMRA releases more detailed guidelines.
