6 July 2023 - The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced on 13 June 2023, that the deadline for companies based in the mainland with 50 or more employees to meet their semi-annual Emiratisation requirement was extended to 7 July 2023. The original deadline was 30 June 2023, however, was extended to accommodate the Eid Al Adha holiday.
Private sector companies in Mainland that do not hire the required number of Emiratis by 8 July 2023, will be fined for each vacancy. This is in accordance with the semi-annual Emiratisation targets set by MoHRE.
The Ministry stated that the goals of the Emiratisation decisions are to "activate and enhance the role and competitiveness of UAE nationals in the labour market, as well as to ensure their active participation in the economic development."
