Oman E-Invoicing- Bridging Tax Compliance and Implementation

Based in Riyadh, Michael leads the Middle East Indirect Tax practice, overseeing various indirect tax implementation projects across the region and actively driving other advisory and compliance services for clients. Previously, Michael was the Indirect Tax Leader of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia With over 29 years of experience in Value Added Tax (VAT), Michael has worked across jurisdictions including the USA, Switzerland, and the UK, assisting clients in managing their indirect taxes. In the GCC, he advises on VAT implementation practicalities, post-implementation processes, and addresses technical issues. Michael has significant experience across sectors such as telecommunications, travel, manufacturing, oil and gas, and defense. He advises clients on supply chain reorganizations, VAT optimization planning, and mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, Michael collaborates with the Deloitte Tax Technology teams to assist clients with their systems, processes, and compliance challenges.

Doukje is a Partner at Deloitte’s Tax Technology Consulting practice in the Middle East and has been with Deloitte for over 14 years. Prior to joining Deloitte Middle East, Doukje was working at Deloitte Amsterdam. Doukje focuses on Tax Transformation and Tax Technology looking at the impacts of tax across People, Processes, Organization and Technology. On the one hand, she advises companies with their day-to-day tax operations. This ranges from tax automation, e-invoicing, tax governance and tax process enhancements. On the other hand, she leads finance transformations and ERP implementations for Tax. In this respect, she has been a project lead of several ERP implementations, tax technology add-ons, e-invoicing solutions and Finance transformations. Doukje holds a bachelor and master decree in Tax Law from the University of Groningen and she spent a semester abroad studying in the United States. She is a Dutch chartered tax lawyer.
