BT AI Hackathon – 1st Edition

The Hackathon ran from Friday at 13:00 to Saturday at 15:00.

Participants were invited to:

• Form teams of five to seven members.
• Identify a business challenge they wanted to address.
• Select their preferred tools and technologies (e.g., n8n, LangChain, Langflow, and various LLMs).
• Design and prototype an AI enabled workflow within a 24-hour timeframe.

On Saturday afternoon, each team presented a 15 minute pitch to a jury composed of partners and business leaders, showcasing their prototype, the intended business impact, and potential next steps.

Beyond the solutions developed, the event fostered a highly collaborative learning environment, where teams exchanged ideas, shared best practices, and explored different approaches throughout the challenge.

Several common themes emerged across the participating teams:

• Rapid upskilling in agent orchestration tools and LLM integration.
• A stronger understanding of how to frame business challenges for AI-driven solutions.
• Experimentation with responsible AI practices, including the exclusive use of synthetic or publicly available data.
• Enhanced collaboration and knowledge sharing across practices and locations.

For many participants, the Hackathon represented their first end to end experience of transforming an AI concept into a working prototype within such a short timeframe.

The insights and capabilities developed during the event are already being carried forward into client engagements, internal accelerators, and broader capability-building initiatives.
