Joachim Heukmes to assume office on 1 June 2026 following a structured transition
Luxembourg, 17 December 2025: Following a General Partners’ Meeting held today, Deloitte Luxembourg announces the election of Joachim Heukmes as its next Managing Partner. He will assume office on 1 June 2026 after a structured transition period.
Joachim Heukmes will succeed John Psaila, who has served as Managing Partner since June 2018 and will complete his second consecutive mandate at the end of May 2026.
John Psaila has dedicated his entire professional career to Deloitte, beginning in 1995. After gaining experience at two other Deloitte member firms, he joined Deloitte Luxembourg in 2001, became a Partner in the audit practice in 2008, and was appointed to the Executive Committee in 2015. During his tenure as Managing Partner, the firm reached several defining milestones, including the inauguration of its new headquarters in 2019, a stronger integration of Deloitte Luxembourg within its European network, the successful navigation of the pandemic, and the creation of the Deloitte Foundation. These achievements were delivered alongside sustained growth, reinforcing the firm’s position in the Luxembourg market.
“I have observed Joachim grow within the firm from his earliest days, and I am honoured to work alongside him over the coming months as we ensure a smooth transition and I pass on the figurative baton,” said John Psaila. “Our history in Luxembourg is one of stewardship. Each generation carries the firm forward with the same sense of responsibility, adapting to new circumstances while remaining true to its foundations. I warmly congratulate Joachim on his election and wish him every success as he prepares to assume this responsibility.”
Joachim Heukmes is a member of the Deloitte Luxembourg Executive Committee and currently serves as lead partner of the Strategy, Risk, Regulatory and Transactions Advisory practice, as well as Deputy Leader of Advisory and Consulting. He joined Deloitte Luxembourg in 2004 and has spent the past twenty years building and leading a highly specialised team recognised for its expertise in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and restructuring. Under his leadership, the practice has delivered innovative solutions to complex challenges across financial services, real estate, and family offices, contributing to value creation for clients and to the development of the advisory market in Luxembourg.
“I am honoured by the trust placed in me by the partnership,” said Joachim Heukmes. “I look forward to working closely with John over the coming months to ensure continuity and stability. Deloitte Luxembourg has a strong heritage and a clear responsibility to its clients, its people, and the wider community, and I am committed to serving that responsibility with determination and care.”
