Introduction
The role of HR professionals is becoming increasingly complex as organizations navigate the dynamic workplace and regulatory environment.
The workplace has changed considerably in the recent past. Even though we see a progressive return to pre-pandemic status quo for some organizations, the COVID 19 pandemic reset the world and the workforce in ways that are now indelible. Flexible work arrangements, remote workers, and other features remain realities of the current workplace. The entry of younger generations into the workforce is also a tide that is forcing HR Professionals to rethink their workplace cultures and policies, and recraft their strategies for attraction, engagement, and retention of talent. Concerns like Data Protection, Diversity & Inclusion, Competitive Remuneration, and Flexibility are now at the fore of many HR Practitioners minds. How well do we understand and incorporate these?
On the legislative front, Kenya has seen a myriad of tax changes which are seemingly an onslaught on the payslip. Since July 2023, we have had more than a dozen changes affecting employees’ remuneration. Some of these afford an opportunity for planning such as those introduced through Finance Bills, but some are based on court rulings/orders which leave no wiggle room for implementation. Consequently, HR Practitioners are caught unprepared and may lack the clarity to execute given the ambiguity of some of these changes. How can one prepare better in these uncertain times?
Our Employment and Labour Relations Courts have also been busy addressing labour disputes. It is imperative that HR Practitioners remain privy to the issues arising from these Courts to avoid pitfalls in their management of talent. Additionally, they should be proactive in the management of immigration affairs considering recent changes and emerging issues on that front.
Please join us for a 1-day Seminar where our experts will discuss the foregoing matters in-depth. We shall provide practical insights that are invaluable to you as an HR Practitioner.
