AI use in societies, institutions and the world of work
Fostering a high-level dialogue on the opportunities and responsibilities associated with the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in societies, institutions and the world of work.
On 25 May 2026, Deloitte Italy co-organised the international Symposium "AI and The Future of Human Dignity: A Bridge across the Demographic and Employment Transitions" in collaboration with the Pontifical Academy for Life, held in Rome at Palazzo Lateranense.
The event brought together a distinguished group of leaders from international institutions, academia, finance, technology and civil society, convening over 100 participants from around the globe. It aimed to foster structured, multi-stakeholder dialogue on how AI can be developed and deployed in ways that uphold human dignity, promote social sustainability and generate broadly shared benefits.
The discussion was structured around three thematic sessions:
- Session I – Governance, Capital, and Development Models focused on the structural choices that will help define how AI can shape economies and societies, exploring how investors, institutions and companies can help steer AI development toward inclusive and sustainable outcomes.
- Session II – Demographic Transition and Social Sustainability examined the intersection between technological transformation and demographic transition, with particular attention to AI's potential role in supporting ageing populations, welfare systems and long-term public policy planning.
- Session III – Work, Skills, and Human Dignity addressed the human dimension of AI-driven transformation in the world of work, exploring how the transition can be governed in ways that can expand access to opportunity and invest in education, reskilling and lifelong learning.
The Symposium is part of a broader strategic collaboration between Deloitte Italy and the Holy See, through which Deloitte Italy's Public Policy & Stakeholder Relations Centre contributes its multidisciplinary experience to support the Vatican's engagement on matters of social and economic relevance.

Nel 2018 ha costituito Officine Innovazione - la prima practice DCM dedicata all’innovazione, che conta oggi 100+ professionisti e guida partnership di primaria rilevanza per il Network con player industriali, startup, università e centri di ricerca – di cui è stato CEO sino al 2025. Andrea è Global Lead Client Service Partner e uno dei massimi esperti del settore assicurativo e finanziario dove opera e ha acquisito una esperienza profonda e strategica ai massimi livelli manageriali da circa 30 anni. All'interno di Deloitte North & South Europe (NSE), Andrea ha guidato dal 2019 al 2023 la practice NSE Innovation. Dal 2022 al 2023 ha inoltre ricoperto il ruolo di Managing Partner per NSE Growth. Durante i suoi mandati in NSE, Andrea ha fatto parte dell’NSE Exec, del Global C&I Exec e del Global Strategy & Innovation Exec. Nel 2012 ha fondato Deloitte Monitor, la boutique di consulenza strategica di Deloitte Italia, con un focus su strategia aziendale e organizzativa, business plan, marketing e M&A, che combina competenze settoriali e metodologie consolidate per supportare i C-Level. Inoltre dal 2015 al 2023 è stato DCM Growth (ex C&I) Leader, contribuendo a una crescita annua costante e alla creazione di un nuovo modello commerciale e go-to-market per il Network. Alessandro De Luca

Alessandro is the Head of the Public Policy & Stakeholder Relations Centre for Deloitte in Italy. Since 2015, he is Director at the Brussels-based Deloitte EU Policy Centre, aimed at facilitating dialogue among Deloitte professionals, policy makers and business leaders, developing perspectives, analysis and insights on public interest themes affecting socio-economic growth and development in Italy and in Europe. Previously, he worked as auditor manager at Deloitte since 2014, where he developed extensive experience in coordinating cross-border assignments of multinational Groups. Also, he gained consolidated experience in coordinating other assurance and non-assurance engagement, such as: compliance projects (US-SOX and Italian equivalent legislation), IPOs, other special assignments (unbundling, due diligence), clients’ assistance with the internal control systems. He provides training for audit managers as facilitator within Deloitte's internal learning programs. Alessandro studied International Economics at Växjö University in Sweden and obtained a Master in Business Administration from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'.
