Sayali, Cyber Risk

Meet our people

Could you tell us a bit about yourself, and your time at Deloitte so far? How did you end up in your current role?

My name is Sayali Chavan. I completed my Masters in Cyber Security at Cork Institute of Technology (also known as Munster Technological University or MTU). I joined the Deloitte Cyber team in 2021 as a Consultant in Cyber Risk Advisory.

In my current role, I get to work on a variety of projects and expand my expertise and skillset by working with an amazingly talented and highly knowledgeable cyber team.

Is there a part of your role you particularly enjoy, or parts of your role you’ve found unexpectedly challenging?

I like the dynamic, ever-evolving nature of cyber security which makes you think every day. This job gives me an opportunity to be creative and do things outside of the box.

My work also allows me to interact with clients from different sectors - giving me an opportunity to understand their business practises and cyber security implementations.

What’s unique about the role or team you’re in?

Everyone in the cyber team is unique and able to contribute their own knowledge and experience. It's a diverse team, where everyone feels a sense of belonging. They really care about the success of the team and company.

What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on?

I have worked on variety of cyber projects in my time at Deloitte and I learned from each one. If I had to pick the best one, however, it would be an audit project that I worked on for an international client. It was combination of technical penetration testing and cyber audit. I got to interact with highly knowledgeable people, and used my critical thinking and management skills to successfully deliver the project within the projected timeline.

What are the main skills you’ve been able to develop in this role so far, and what do you want to focus on next?

This job has allowed me to interact with clients and understand their requirements. Deloitte is known for providing high quality reports to their clients and I have majorly improved in that area. I have developed my client communication and technical writing skills too. My senior peers have helped and supported me throughout.

In the upcoming year I am looking forward to gaining more technical skills in other areas of cyber, which will allow me to work on even more diverse and interesting projects.

What would we typically find you doing outside of work?

Apart from work, I like to explore new places and cuisines, and meet new people. I am also an avid reader and a crazy Marvel fan.
