Deloitte Ghana and UPSA Collaborate to Transform Education and Industry in Ghana

Bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical industry application

GHANA, 13 December, 2023 —Deloitte Ghana and the Research and Consultancy Centre (RCC) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have recently reached an agreement by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU). This significant partnership seeks to enhance growth and progress by fostering closer ties between academia and industry.

Aligned with Deloitte's WorldClass commitment, this strategic partnership seeks to make a significant impact on the lives of people and communities by supporting education, industry, and empowering entrepreneurs. Deloitte's goal through WorldClass is to make a positive impact on the lives of more than 35,000 people in Ghana by the year 2030.

Daniel Kwadwo Owusu, Country Managing Partner of Deloitte Ghana, expressed his passion for creating lasting change through education. He believes that knowledge acquired in educational institutions should be effectively applied in real-world settings.

Through this collaboration, we will work together to strengthen the ties between academia and industry, ensuring that knowledge and skills acquired in educational institutions can be effectively applied in real-world settings." Prof. Kofi Osei-Frimpong, Associate Professor of Marketing at UPSA, emphasized the importance of utilizing academic publications for industrial needs.

“Amidst the plethora of academic publications, industries are yet to make use of them. Meanwhile, faculty and students of UPSA can explore these publications/research to come out with topics that meet some industrial needs” he said, “Therefore, the main purpose of this partnership is to work with Deloitte to help meet some industrial research needs.

Our joint efforts will not only benefit the students but also contribute to the overall growth of industries in Ghana. By bringing together the expertise of both Deloitte Ghana and UPSA, we aim to nurture talent, foster innovation, and promote entrepreneurship across the country.”

Deloitte Ghana has consistently placed its priorities on initiatives that foster industry, education, and entrepreneurship as drivers of economic development, by providing support and direction to encourage economic growth and the creation of quality employment opportunities throughout the country.

About University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA)

The Research and Consultancy Centre (RCC) is an academic and business unit within the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), a public university that provides both academic and business professional education in Ghana. With fifty (50) years of experience, the University has gained a reputation as the oldest professional accountancy and management tuition provider having many of its products in key leadership positions in Ghana and elsewhere.  As the research and consultancy arm of the University, the RCC has the responsibility to promote, administer surveys and oversee all research, scholarly and consultancy activities of the University.
