George Ankomah

George is the Lead Partner for Tax & Regulatory at Deloitte Ghana with over 26 years of distinguished experience in taxation and accounting in Ghana. He serves as the Deputy Board Chair of the Deloitte Africa Board, where he contributes to strategic leadership and regional growth initiatives.

An astute Chartered Accountant and seasoned Tax Professional, George has led numerous high‑value and complex engagements, supporting clients on tax and regulatory engagements spanning strategic tax planning, business‑transforming advisory services, tax and regulatory compliance support services among others.

Over the course of his career, he has advised local and multinational clients in various sectors including energy and resources, telecommunications, consumer business, manufacturing, and financial services, thus earning a strong reputation for technical excellence, sound judgment, and trusted leadership.

He began his career at the Ghana Revenue Authority and rose through the ranks to the role of Principal Inspector of Taxes. This has given him a good understanding of the systems within the revenue authority, which plays a vital role in his ability to resolve client’s challenges with the revenue authority. His professional journey also includes key roles at another big4 firm and Newmont. At Newmont, George worked as a Senior Manager in charge of tax services for Newmont Ghana Gold Limited and Newmont Golden Ridge Resources Limited.

George is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CITG). He holds an MBA from the University of Leicester in UK.
