World Mental Health Day 2022

At Deloitte, we have long recognized the importance of mental health in the workplace and the need for our people to know where and how to seek support if they are facing challenges. This year, for World Mental Health Day, Deloitte aims to break down all-too-common, self-reinforcing patterns that can hinder open dialogue on mental health at work.

Almost every day we get asked how we’re doing. For most of us there is a standard response: ‘I’m fine’—even if we are not.

The cartoons listed below bring to life some of these common workplace interactions. They seek to challenge us to reflect on our default responses and encourage conversation about mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Next time you’re connecting with a colleague, why not try asking more open-ended questions about how they’re doing, and take the lead by being open about how you’re really doing?

World Mental Health Day was observed for the first time on 10 October 1992. The day, officially commemorated every year on October 10, seeks to raise awareness in the global community of the importance of mental health and to mobilize efforts to support it on a global basis—including when it comes to mental health at work.
