Dr. Stephan C. Maier is a strategy consultant and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience. His focus is on strategic transformation, operational excellence, and technology-driven change — with a particular emphasis on the global insurance industry, where he has advised leading companies for many years.
As Global Lead Client Service Partner, he holds worldwide responsibility for a leading insurance and reinsurance mandate. In addition, he is a member of Deloitte Germany’s Insurance Sector Leadership Team, where he is responsible for Insurance Strategy.
In his role as Clients & Industries (C&I) Lead for Strategy, Risk & Transactions (SR&T), he steers sector alignment as well as business development, sales excellence, and go-to-market. In doing so, he strengthens the positioning and development of mandates across strategy, risk, and transactions.
His areas of expertise include organic and inorganic growth, operating model design, cost optimization, distribution strategies, innovation & ventures, and M&A. He supports leading European and international insurers in critical transformation phases — from portfolio restructuring and regulatory transformation to the redesign of distribution channels and large-scale digital transformation programs.
