To improve multiple processes within organisations the best tool available is process mining.

Process mining uses Artificial Intelligence to dive deeper into large data by understanding the complexity of processes and using log data from IT systems. It offers novel insight into process flows with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.

A task is an activity performed by an employee within a process, which cannot be seen in IT system data.

Employees often perform repetitive tasks, which after a long period of time become ineffective. This is usually the result of a process change or process update.

Task mining is an effective tool to address this change and support more effective work. Its role is to capture work in productive applications, such as Excel and Outlook, and classify these activities into individual tasks.

Aim: For an international energy company and its finance department we have assessed elimination and simplification of unused financial reports. The current IT solutions did not provide sufficient objective information as to whether employees read and use reports.

Aim: For an international service delivery company, we focused on the back-office support department with accounting team size of 70 FTEs working across 18 European countries. Following several initiatives that have been launched over the past four years, automation solutions were well established in the current service delivery with significant efficiency gains.
