Senesi plans to acquire Koupelny JaS

The merger of these two regional players in the bathroom industry would result in nationwide coverage.

Senesi, a retailer of kitchens, flooring, and bathrooms, plans to acquire the Ostrava-based company Koupelny JaS, which specializes in bathrooms and tiles. The transaction is currently being reviewed by the Office for the Protection of Competition under a simplified procedure.

Senesi operates a network of 5 showrooms. In addition to branches in Prague and Brno, it focuses on southwestern Bohemia, where it has stores in České Budějovice, Vodňany, and Plzeň. Koupelny JaS operates a total of 8 branches. Their combined coverage of Bohemia would be complemented by locations in Teplice and Hradec Králové. However, the main concentration of its locations lies in Silesia and eastern Moravia. By joining forces, they will thus achieve strong coverage of most of the country without unnecessary duplication, while any gaps could potentially could be filled with new branches near the regional capitals of Jihlava, Liberec, and Karlovy Vary.

According to its most recent financial statements, JaS Bathrooms achieved sales of CZK 496 million and an operating profit of CZK 15 million in 2022. In addition to its eight retail stores, the company—with a 34-year history—operates two wholesale logistics centers in Ostrava and creates graphic designs for bathrooms.

With this acquisition, Senesi would continue its expansion and build on the launch of its wholesale operations in Slovakia. The company, with 175 employees—including 23 kitchen and bathroom designers—generated revenue of CZK 1,331 million in 2024, with an operating profit of CZK 44 million.
