BTL, a Czech medical technology manufacturer, has acquired the Italian start-up U&O, which specializes in the development and production of exoskeletons. U&O currently produces around 50 exoskeletons annually for patients with spinal cord injuries. BTL plans to scale up this production using its manufacturing capacities, allowing U&O to fully focus on research and development. Additionally, U&O intends to launch a new version of its exoskeleton on the global market next year, meeting the highest standards of quality and safety.
BTL is one of the world’s leading producers of medical and aesthetic equipment. It operates in 70 countries and employs approximately 3,800 people, including 400 development engineers. Its annual revenue amounts to around CZK 16 billion, and the company maintains double-digit profitability. The details of the transaction, which had been in preparation for six months, were not disclosed by either party.
