Preliminary Contest (Online Competition) Guideline

Preliminary contest schedule

  • Deadline for enrollmentMay 31: all invited universities should submit their list of participants for the Preliminary Contest before 24:00 on May 31.
  • Deadline for competition platform registrationJune 14: all participants should complete the registration on the online competition platform before 12:00 on June 14.
  • Simulation testsJune 17 to June 30: after approval of competition platform registration, participants will have two chances to take the simulation test. The time for the first simulation test will be from 0:00 of June 17 to 24:00 of June 23, and the time for the second simulation test will be from 0:00 of June 24 to 24:00 of June 30.
  • Preliminary ContestJuly 7. Participants must log in to the competition platform between 10:00 am. and 10:15 am. on July 7 firstly, before they officially start the competition.
     

Preliminary contest rules

  1. The Preliminary Contest is a 90-minute online competition that will be held on July 7 (Sunday).
  2. The Preliminary Contest focuses on the practice and application of the knowledge of PRC tax laws and related regulations, as well as the evaluation of students' logic thinking.
  3. The contest will be in the format of multiple-choice, with a clear indication on single or multiple question. 
  4. Participants need finish online competition individually. Deloitte will then decide, based on the total scores of each team, which teams will move on to the second round competition. A total of 30 teams including 20 highest-scoring teams from Mainland China, 5 top teams from Hong Kong S.A.R. and Macau S.A.R., and 5 top teams from Taiwan during the preliminary contest will advance the second round competition.
     

Preliminary contest scoring

The preliminary contest scores 100 points, with 90 points for tax knowledge-based questions and 10 points for logic thinking questions. 
 

Requirements for the online platform system

  1. Participants are required to use computers with cameras, as well as the latest browsers(Chrome 74, Firefox 67, or Opera 60) for face recognition and video monitoring purpose.
  2. Participants are required to submit their ID photos (frontal view) during the online registration to enable the face recognition. 
  3. Participants are required to keep their cameras on during the whole contest.
  4. After competition platform registration is approved, participants will receive emails automatically sent by the system, which will notify the details of the simulation tests and the official competition.
  5. The purpose of the simulation tests is to help participants check if their equipment, browsers, and network all work properly, thus ensuring smooth competition on July 7. Participants are suggested to use the same equipment, browser, and network in the official competition.
  6. Participants are not allowed to leave the question page without permission during the contest.
  7. The competition platform will provide IT support throughout the contest.
