The Investment Management Industry's preferred destination
GAIM Ops Cayman is the leading global conference for alternative investment operations professionals. Each year, the event brings together CCOs, COOs, Heads of ODD, General Counsels, CIOs, CFOs, CEOs, Partners and other key executives and leaders from top-tier firms across the investment management ecosystem. Deloitte Cayman Islands is a founding member and has been Principal Conference Sponsor for over 18 years.
As a key sponsor, Deloitte collaborates closely with our Principal co-sponsors and the conference organizers to shape and deliver an insightful and dynamic agenda with key industry updates, trending topics, engaging speakers, and high-quality networking events and experiences, to both international and local attendees.
The 2024 conference hosted almost 600 delegates, with an estimated combined US$13 Trillion in assets under management.
Deloitte leaders and experts from our local, regional and global Investment Management practices delivered world-class keynotes, panels, and hosted expertise-focused discussions at the conference.
Deloitte's line-up of speakers this year included Odette Samson, Audit Partner, Cayman Islands; Tyler Gay, Audit Partner, US; Bryan Morris, Audit Partner, US; and Pieta Brown, Risk Advisory Director, Cayman Islands.
Once again in 2024, the conference was inaugurated by the Honourable André Ebanks, Deputy Premier (Acting Premier at the time), Minister for Financial Services & Commerce and Minister for Investment, Innovation & Social Development. Minister Ebanks addressed a captive audience on Monday morning to welcome local and international delegates, and share executive highlights for the Financial Services industry and the Cayman Islands, both as a jurisdiction and as a nation.
Amongst key updates such as the country's robust regulatory compliance practices and achievements, upcoming legislation, and further expansion of diplomatic delegations globally, the Minister also highlighted the local focus on accelerating gender equality across our public and private sectors. He recognized milestones in female leadership positions, including several Government officials as well as Deloitte's Managing Partner Cindy Hislop.
Subject matter experts from Deloitte in the Cayman Islands and United States hosted various sessions at GAIM Ops Cayman 2024, including a keynote interview, two panels, and an expert lunch table.
Deloitte Cayman Islands' Partner Odette Samson chaired Tuesday's agenda, presenting engaging sessions surrounding key topics impacting the Alternative Investment landscape. These included readiness and response to Cyber threats, best practices to leverage Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, driving sustainability in investing, deep dives into regulatory perspectives from the US and the Cayman Islands, and insights into the US Department Of Justice’s inner workings.
During GAIM Ops Cayman 2024, Artificial Intelligence (AI) was identified as a transformative force within the Alternative Investments landscape, that could be harnessed for accelerated growth and enhanced strategy and decision-making.
