Richard Drennan

Richard has over 28 years of experience with Deloitte Bermuda, initially in the Audit and Corporate Recovery service lines, specialising in the insurance industry and specifically in our SEC Registrant reinsurance clients.

In 2006, Richard assumed the position of Director of Compliance for the Bermuda Firm, responsible for all aspects of Risk Management, including Independence, Ethics, Client Acceptance and Regulatory compliance. In 2012, Richard was appointed as Risk & Reputation Leader, Independence Director and Ethics Officer for Deloitte Bermuda.

In 2013, as part of the integration of the Risk function for the Deloitte Caribbean & Bermuda Member Firm (CBC), Richard was appointed as CBC Director of Independence, applying his experience to ensure full CBC compliance with DTTL reporting and monitoring requirements on independence matters. In 2015, Richard assumed the role of Risk & Reputation Leader for the CBC and is now responsible for all aspects of risk management and compliance in the Firm, including independence, client acceptance, conflicts, ethics and regulatory matters.

Richard has developed a network of invaluable contacts throughout DTTL to assist in all Risk Management matters and these have proved particularly helpful in achieving clear and timely resolution to a variety of complex independence and risk situations.

Relevant experience includes:

• Conducting frequent consultations on a range of risk and independence matters including facilitation of discussion with DTTL Global and US Independence and Risk leaders. 
• Regular communications on PCAOB matters and preparation for and management of three PCAOB practice inspections
• In depth involvement with global engagement teams to monitor engagement acceptance on SEC registrant and other clients and to ensure adherence to SEC and DTTL rules and documentation requirements

Richard has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales since 1988
