Deloitte expands commitment to UNLEASH Innovation Lab solutions

  • Deloitte to invest in projects that make an impact that matters
  • Weeklong event seeks innovative solutions to the UN SDGs
  • Deloitte commitment is part of a network-wide ‘WorldClass’ societal impact initiative

SINGAPORE, 1 June 2018—Today, Deloitte announced its intention to provide investment through seed funding and pro bono services to solutions developed during this year’s UNLEASH Innovation Lab taking place in Singapore from 30 May to 6 June 2018. Through this commitment, Deloitte will support three to five solutions that align with the network’s Worldclass initiative, which seeks to prepare 50 million futures to succeed in the rapidly changing global economy.

After participating in and witnessing the success of the inaugural UNLEASH lab in 2017, Deloitte is collaborating with UNLEASH again to bring together social innovators and entrepreneurs to collaborate on ideas that advance solutions aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNLEASH is a global non-profit organisation that aspires to become the world’s leading platform for scalable solutions to the SDGs.

At Deloitte, we are deeply committed to making an impact that matters and believe there are many ways that individuals and institutions can contribute to improving the world. Financial donations, volunteerism, and the nature of being purpose rather than profit-driven all make a difference,

said Punit Renjen, Deloitte Global CEO.

“As an UNLEASH collaborator, we hope to inspire, mentor and support these young talents as they develop solutions to some of the most vexing problems facing the world today.”

Deloitte will have 50 professionals from across its global network facilitate the innovation labs, applying their business capabilities and innovation experience to guide talented social entrepreneurs towards tangible solutions. In addition, there will be another 16 Deloitte professionals who are social entrepreneurs participating in the innovation labs and contributing their ideas. After UNLEASH, Deloitte will provide funding and pro bono support to the highest potential solutions that connect to education, skills and access to opportunity.

We are honoured to continue our support for UNLEASH and bring this meaningful experience to Singapore. Advances in technology and digitisation are transforming the ways in which we work, live and learn. The skills people need to thrive within this new world economy are changing. While these advances present incredible opportunity to individuals and society, millions are being left behind. Deloitte’s ambition is to create opportunities for 50 million people by providing access to education, skills and opportunities that are needed to do the jobs of the future. UNLEASH is an excellent platform for the next generation of leaders to innovate on how to break down barriers to this access. We are excited to see how Deloitte can contribute to translate the wonderful ideas and solutions into something tangible that can help make the world more sustainable for the future,

says Philip Yuen, Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte Singapore and Southeast Asia.
