Kris Funston

Kris is a microeconomist with expertise in competition, regulatory and network economics, access pricing, the cost of capital, regulatory finance, and the market and regulatory design for utility services. He has an excellent understanding of competition and regulatory frameworks in telecommunications, electricity, gas and water sectors internationally, particularly in Australia and New Zealand. His past experience includes working for regulated businesses, regulators, market designers, and policy makers across the telecommunications, gas, electricity and water sectors in Australia and New Zealand. In the energy sector Kris has worked across the entire supply chain - wholesale, network, and retail markets - overseeing significant market reform in the wholesale electricity market and in 2017 led the development of the strategic priorities for the sector. His expertise also extends to developing financial, pricing, and economic models for regulators and businesses to assess the impacts of changes in regulations and policy.
