David is a partner and the national Global Trade Advisory leader at Deloitte Australia. He leads a team of global trade professionals across Australia. David has worked in Global Trade Advisory (Customs) in Big 4 firms for over 20 years, in Australia and in the United States where he worked for three years as a Senior Manager in the Deloitte US Global Trade Advisory practice. David has acted for major multinationals with respect to customs and trade compliance and optimisation. He has also served clients across a variety of industries, including medical/pharmaceutical, automotive, chemical, oil/gas, transportation, retail, industrial, manufacturing and mining. David has extensive experience across all areas of customs optimisation and compliance, including customs classification, customs valuation, Free Trade Agreements and other duty concessions, import and export controls, trade automation, and Authorized Economic Operator programs (such as Australian Trusted Trader and CT-PAT). David is a long-standing member, and the current Chair, of the Law Council of Australia’s Customs & International Transactions Committee.
