Junko Watanabe is Deputy Chair of Deloitte Asia Pacific, where she also chairs the Board Transformation Committee. She completed two terms as a Deloitte Japan Board member and currently serves as an observer for the Deloitte Japan Board. Junko held the positions of audit committee chair and compensation committee chair in Deloitte Japan, as well as the compensation committee chair for the Deloitte Asia Pacific Board.

Junko is the Deloitte Global Lead Client Service Partner (GLCSP) for Sony Corporation, one of our Global Crown Jewel (GCJ) Super-Scale accounts. She also leads Deloitte's GCJ Super-Scale Program, a prestigious and pivotal role in Global Clients & Industries (GC&I) strategic focus. In this role, her responsibilities include overseeing the management of our 20 largest GCJ accounts. 

Previously, she spearheaded the practice development function of the Tokyo Audit Division and played a key role in the TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecommunications) business unit practices at AERS in Japan. She has also taken on the GLCSP role for prominent accounts such as Orix and Fast Retailing, making significant contributions to securing audit wins for Fast Retailing.

Junko started her career at Price Waterhouse, auditing multinational companies like Sony Corporation, Nomura Securities, and IBM Japan. After working in planning at a food manufacturing company, she joined Deloitte in 2001, specializing in accounting, auditing, M&A, and advisory services for large multinational organizations, including IPOs and IFRS projects.

Junko is a US CPA and holds a graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She gained three years of work experience in New York with Price Waterhouse.
