Investment Management M&A: Developing and emerging market opportunities |
Background
As the investment management sector becomes increasingly competitive and saturated in Europe and North America, and against a more challenging economic outlook, developing and emerging economies are drawing the attention of investment managers seeking new markets and sources of growth, either through M&A, strategic partnerships or joint ventures.
Potential opportunities throughout the 'BRIC' economies (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and in the next tier of rising economies, such as South Korea, Indonesia, Turkey, Mexico and Africa, are becoming increasingly attractive. However with such varied legal, tax and regulatory environments, not to mention market competitors and distribution models, it is vital to understand these and their implications when considering any investment.
Key findings
In this paper, we provide a high level overview of the investment management sector in the key developing and emerging markets and detail some of the key challenges associated with cross-border M&A.
