Tax Engines are commonly used in the US to automate the calculation of sale & use taxes on sales and purchases transaction on ERPs.  Although tax engine solutions have also been available for VAT for more than 10 years, the usage of tax engines in Europe has remained somewhat limited until now - the typical European operations of a multi-national company having native ERP functionalities for automating the VAT calculation on its sale transactions and a semi-automated process for dealing with VAT on its purchases.

Historically, the main barriers for the deployment of tax engines in Europe have been threefold.  Firstly, lack of familiarity of EMEA VAT/Tax Manager with Tax Engine functionalities.  Secondly, concerns about the quality of EMEA tax content and about the interfaces between tax engines and ERP finance modules (e.g. how to produce a compliant VAT ledger?).  Finally, difficulties in articulating the cost-benefits of using a tax engine in Europe.

In this Webinar, Thierry Chaumantin and Ecaterina Bercu address these 3 barriers, in order to provide EMEA tax managers with key concepts that they can use to discuss tax engines with their tax management and their IT and finance management.
