Christie Smith, PhD

West Region Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting LLP and Leadership Center for Inclusion Managing Principal


Christie Smith has a track record of breaking boundaries – including her past career as a professional golfer, her leadership in fostering growth of the Life Science sector, and her experience as one of Deloitte’s most senior inclusion leaders.

Christie has spent the last 24 years consulting, focusing on aligning business strategy with the requirements of organizational structure, talent, leadership development and global workforce planning. She is the West region managing director, Consulting, as well as the lead Consulting partner and advisory partner for many of Deloitte’s largest life sciences companies in the West region. Christie has also served as the West region life sciences and industry leader. She recently drove the formation of Deloitte’collaboration with the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) to spur bioscience innovation and convert that innovation into a catalyst for jobs, companies, and better health in California.

In addition to her client work, Christie is the managing principal for the Deloitte University Leadership Center for Inclusion which is where Deloitte engages their people, clients, and thought leaders to redefine inclusion for the 21st century workplace. Christie previously served as the West region Women’s Initiative leader and West region Diversity leader where she spearheaded Deloitte’s relationship and activities with, a call-to-action campaign that seeks to empower women and girls to challenge limiting media labels in order to realize their potential. Because of Christie’s accomplishments and commitment to Life Sciences and Inclusion, she has been recognized as one of San Francisco’s Most Influential Women by the Business Times.

Christie has a masters of social work from Rutgers University, and a Ph.D. in industrial organizational psychology from New York University.
