Tax guru Teresa Dyson joins entertainer Magda Szubanski to headline TEDxSouthBankWomen in 2013
Deloitte re-signs as principle sponsorDOWNLOAD
14 October 2013: The ‘tax world’s leading lady,’ Deloitte Partner Teresa Dyson, will be presenting a TED talk at Brisbane’s second TEDxSouthBankWomen event, sharing her experiences on challenging the status quo and standing out from the crowd.
With the theme of positive disruption, the event will take place at the State Library of Queensland on Saturday, 7 December 2013 and will also feature famed Australian entertainer Magda Szubanski.
Deloitte has signed on as the principal sponsor of TEDxSouthBankWomen, for the second consecutive year.
TEDxSouthBankWomen is an independently organised TED event, which aims to bring people together from three worlds: technology, entertainment and design to celebrate the power of ideas.
John Greig, Deloitte Managing Partner in Queensland said, “Continuing this partnership was an obvious decision for us. Like the TEDx community, Deloitte has a deep commitment to design thinking, innovation and celebrating the power of new ideas.
As seen in our recent thought leadership piece, ‘Digital Disruption, short fuse, big bang?’ digital continues to impact business activities across many sectors.
At the event, we will be showcasing our digital capabilities, with the recent establishment in Brisbane of our fourth Deloitte Digital studio in Australia.”
The event will feature inspiring talks from some of Australia’s best-established and emerging thinkers who are striving to tackle humanity’s toughest questions with innovative enterprise and enduring optimism.
According to TEDxSouthBankWomen Licensee Laura Stokes, this year’s event will build on the success of 2012.
“This year, we will host 300 delegates, which is a significant increase from the 100 delegates we had last year. We expect that we will receive well in excess of 1000 applications,” she said.
Each delegate is then personally selected by the TEDxSouthBankWomen committee, creating a diverse and expansive TEDx community.
“In its inaugural year, we were delighted for a firm like Deloitte to see the value in supporting a new and untested TEDx event, like TEDxSouthBankWomen. In our second year, we are seeing more high profile speakers like Teresa and Magda come on board, which really helps us to develop eminence for the event in Brisbane.
With the Deloitte team recently winning an Australian Marketing Institute Award for Marketing Excellence for our 2012 event, it is really testament to the true alignment between both organisations,” Laura said.
Registrations to become a delegate are open for another three weeks, until 31 October. Visit tedxsouthbankwomen.com for more information.
