- Business model: Companies facing major disruptions (like changing industry dynamics, increasing competitive threats and shifts in growth and demand) need to re-evaluate their business models. Defining an effective business model that aligns with the company’s long-term strategy and financial vision can provide strategic and competitive advantage.
- Operating model: Changes to the business model typically require changes to the operating model, which affect everything from organisation structure and business functions to production facilities, sourcing strategies and information technology. Aligning the operating model with the business model allows more sustainable and scalable cost performance.
- Capital model: Deteriorating financial performance and a stagnant economy have made it difficult for many companies to fund current or future business operations. To address this challenge, they may need to redesign their underlying capital model. By focusing on areas such as liquidity management, financial leverage, asset intensity and working capital efficiencies, companies can achieve a more effective internal cost of capital and financial advantage.
